Intense Clashes Between KIA and Military Council Forces in Bhamo; Residential Areas Set Ablaze

In Bhamo Township, Kachin State, intense clashes are ongoing between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and military council forces, with residential areas reportedly set ablaze due to military shelling, according to a spokesperson from the Bhamo People Defense Force (BPDF).

Fighting has been reported between October 12 and 13, with battles occurring between six and seven miles from Bhamo Township. The military has been shelling residential areas using heavy artillery and air strikes, leading to multiple instances of homes catching fire.

“Currently, there are fierce daily battles occurring between six and seven miles from Bhamo. The situation remains tense near Kawnja,” the spokesperson from the BPDF stated.

Revolutionary forces led by the KIA are present in the vicinity of Bhamo, and military council troops are reportedly on the defensive, indicating that the intensity of battles has increased near Bhamo Township.
