In villages of Nyanglaypin District, Bago Region, shelling by the military has left one person dead and four others injured, according to a statement from the KNU central committee.
On October 13, around 9:30 AM, military personnel stationed in the area shelled the village of The Gae Lu, resulting in injuries to four villagers. Later, around 8 PM, the military fired two heavy artillery shells from Kone Chaung, causing explosions within the village. A 71-year-old villager, Tee Po Htay, was injured in the incident.
On October 14, around 10 AM, military personnel stationed in the village again fired two heavy artillery shells, leading to further explosions in the Kyan Kaung village. On October 12, at approximately 12:15 PM, military forces from the area fired two 61mm mortars, which landed in the old Thaepyu village, injuring a 56-year-old villager, U Kin Kyaw.
On October 11, around 3:58 PM, the military fired an 81mm shell from Kone Chaung, which exploded near Daung Mo village. Additionally, at approximately 2:45 PM and around 8 PM that day, the Kha La Ra-264 unit fired a total of four shells, including 120mm and 122mm, between Hkin Kan Lan, Lek Kha Kye, and Htoe Wa villages.
On the same day, around 10 AM, forces from Kha Ma Ra-20, Kha Ma Ra-349, Kha Ma Ra-350, and Kha La Ra-57 units shelled the village of Nyangpin Gyi with 81mm artillery, injuring two residents, Daw Kin Nain Win and Maung Myo Thiha Kyaw.
Furthermore, on October 15, at the southern edge of Kandalani Bridge in Kalay Township, military personnel fired heavy artillery, resulting in the death of one woman from Si Tawl village, according to local sources.
It has been reported that the artillery shells fired by the military landed in a residential compound within Si Tawl village, striking the woman in the head and causing her death.
