In Htilin Township, Magway Region, five villagers from Kya Khe village were reportedly burned alive by a military unit, according to Thakin Zaw from the YRA Htilin Brigade. The incident occurred on the morning of October 26, around 4 AM, when a military column of over 80 soldiers, originating from Shwe Htilin Hall, raided the village without warning.
During the attack, a young male villager was shot and killed, while a female villager sustained injuries. Amid the chaos, villagers attempted to flee, but four male villagers were captured. The military subsequently burned these four men alive, and three other male villagers were taken hostage. Additional villagers reportedly remain missing following the attack.
“When they first entered, those four men were captured at the village entrance. After detaining them, the soldiers proceeded to enter the village, firing indiscriminately. During this assault, a male villager was injured by gunfire, along with some women. The four captives were burned alive in the village. They were ordinary villagers, not combatants. We could hear their screams for a long time until everything went silent. That military column has since returned to Htilin town,” stated Thakin Zaw from the YRA Htilin Brigade.
After burning the four villagers alive, the soldiers reportedly left the area with three other detained men, returning to Htilin town by way of Tharaka village around 11:10 AM.
