Myanmar Military Airstrike on Tharkyin Model Village Destroys Homes, School, and Monastery, Killing Two Resistance Fighters

A military airstrike on Tharkyin Model Village in Mandalay Region’s Ngazun Township killed two resistance fighters, injured two others, and caused significant destruction to homes, a school, and a monastery, according to local residents.

The attack took place on December 5 between 8:45 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Military aircraft reportedly dropped 27 bombs on the village, which houses nearly 200 households.

“As a result of the airstrike, five homes were set ablaze, and both the school and monastery were destroyed. Two resistance fighters were killed, and two others sustained injuries. Additionally, four cows were killed by the blasts,” a Tharkyin villager explained.

The large-scale bombing campaign highlights the escalating violence and the targeting of civilian infrastructure in Myanmar’s ongoing conflict.
