In Mandalay Region, a civilian was killed when the military opened fire with heavy artillery in the town of Matara. The incident occurred on December 22, around 11:00 AM, when the military forces attacked the village of Aung Kan Tha with large-caliber weapons, despite no ongoing conflict. According to a Voice of Mandalay official, the attack resulted in one civilian death and three injuries.
“The military forces opened fire with heavy weapons without any battle taking place. The name of the deceased is still unknown,” the official stated.
Similarly, in Seikphyu Township, Mandalay, on December 20, military forces targeted young people riding motorcycles. According to a spokesperson for the Young Revolution Front, the military opened fire on the youths, injuring one who was struck by a bullet.
The incident occurred near the western gate of the Kaps 22 checkpoint in Seikphyu, where the military forces shot at two motorcycles, injuring one rider severely. “The military shot at the two motorcycles, and one young person was hit in the abdomen by a bullet, leaving them critically injured,” the spokesperson reported.
