Military Airstrike on Daungboe Village Leaves One Dead, Three Injured, and Significant Property Damage

An airstrike carried out by Myanmar’s military on Daungboe Village in Nwahtogyi Township, Mandalay Region, has resulted in the death of U Aye Htun, 63, and left three others injured, according to local sources. The attack, which occurred on December 23 at approximately 6:00 PM, caused widespread destruction to homes, vehicles, and livestock in the area.

Eyewitnesses reported that U Aye Htun died instantly in the attack, while his wife, Daw San Yu, sustained severe head injuries. Two other residents, Ma Mar Ma Thi, 45, and Ma Daw, also suffered injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The airstrike destroyed U Aye Htun’s home and that of U Aung Myint. Additionally, the damage extended to one truck, two motorcycles, one oil mill, and a tiller. Three cattle were also killed during the incident.

Residents stated that the military launched the airstrike despite the absence of any active fighting in Nwahtogyi Township, describing the attack as part of a pattern of indiscriminate violence by the junta forces.

The incident has drawn condemnation from local communities, who continue to face the brunt of military aggression in conflict zones across the country.
