Artillery Attack on Refugee Camp Kills 3, Including 6-Year-Old, in Naung Shwe Township

An artillery attack launched by the Pa-O National Army (PNA) on January 17 targeted makeshift shelters housing refugees near Bya Taw Village Monastery in Naung Shwe Township, Shan State. The attack killed three people, including a six-year-old child, and injured 17 others, according to the Inle Public Movement Organization.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:20 PM, with the PNA reportedly firing from the Pin Lone village area west of Biluu Creek. Among the deceased was six-year-old Nan Aye Myint Than, who succumbed to a head injury on the spot. The other victims were Khun Thein Aung and U Sai, who also died during the attack.

The injured individuals have been transported to local hospitals, including San Khae Hospital, Nam Pan Hospital, and Aung Ban Hospital, for medical treatment.

This tragic incident underscores the continued dangers faced by displaced civilians in conflict-affected areas of Myanmar.
