Artillery Attack by Military and PNA Forces Claims Two Lives, Including a 10-Year-Old Child, in Villages of Nyaungshwe and Pinlaung

Two civilians, including a 10-year-old child, were killed in an artillery attack by the military and the PNA (Pa-O National Army) on villages in Nyaungshwe and Pinlaung townships, Shan State, according to a representative of the Inle Human Rights Organization.

The incident occurred at around 5 PM on February 12, when six artillery shells were fired from the western bank of Phekhon into Taung Pokwe village in Nyaungshwe Township. The shells exploded within the village, causing significant casualties and destruction.

Among the victims was 10-year-old Maung Sai Lyan Sai, who suffered fatal injuries to the head and back and died instantly. Additionally, 40-year-old U Soe Lon sustained severe head injuries and also died on the spot.

Further casualties included 40-year-old Daw Nan Pan, who sustained serious leg injuries, and 45-year-old U Kya, who suffered severe hand injuries. Several homes in the village were also destroyed by fire caused by the attack.
