The Myanmar military carried out airstrikes on two villages in Kyaikto Township, Mon State, resulting in the deaths of three civilians and injuries to many others. Religious sites, including monasteries and stupas, as well as schools and homes, were severely damaged, according to a statement released by the Karen National Union (KNU).
On the morning of February 13, at approximately 10:20 AM, the military conducted an airstrike using a jet fighter on Pha-Nae-Kone Village, targeting a monastery and other areas within the village. The attack left over ten people injured and three civilians dead, while the monastery and stupas were also damaged.
Later that day, at around 12:00 PM and again at 4:00 PM, the military launched airstrikes on Kaw-Kat Village, resulting in significant damage to the village’s school buildings.
Similarly, on the same day, the military dropped two 500-pound bombs on Ta-Gay-Laung-Chaung-Pyar Village in Bilin Township, targeting a Christian church compound and residential areas. The attack destroyed one church and 17 civilian homes.
