A total of twelve people killed in a military airstrike on a wedding ceremony at a monastery in Kyauk Khwet Yenanmaw, Myaing Township, have been laid to rest, according to an official from the Myaing Township People’s Defense Force (PDF).
On the morning of February 25, at around 9:45 a.m., a wedding ceremony was being held at the monastery in Sone Kone Village, Kyauk Khwet Yenanmaw area, when a military jet fighter carried out two bombings using 500-pound bombs. The explosions directly hit the monastery, where people were gathered for the ceremony, including those preparing food for the wedding. As a result, at least twelve civilians were killed.
The bride and groom reportedly survived the attack. The exact number of injured persons remains unconfirmed.
