An airstrike by the military on Let Pan Hla village in Singu Township, Mandalay Region, has resulted in the deaths of 27 civilians, including a four-month-old infant and six children. According to a representative from the local People’s Defense Forces (PDF), the attack also left 32 people injured, some in critical condition, raising concerns that the death toll may rise.
The military carried out the airstrike at approximately 3:14 PM on March 14, despite the absence of active fighting in the area. Local sources confirmed that the attack destroyed five civilian homes, and some bodies were severely disfigured, making identification difficult. Search efforts for additional victims are ongoing.
The incident is one of the latest in a series of airstrikes targeting civilian areas, drawing condemnation from human rights organizations and local resistance groups. The situation remains tense as residents continue to search for the missing and provide medical aid to the wounded.
