Two civilians killed, nearly 100 homes torched as junta forces attack Nyaung-U and Taungtha townships

In Mandalay Region, violent junta troops attacking Nyaung-U and Taungtha townships have arrested and executed two civilians, while burning nearly 100 homes across six villages, according to a responsible source from the Nyaung-U district People’s Defense Force (PDF).

Since June 25, the junta forces have repeatedly entered villages in Nyaung-U and Taungtha, torching residential houses as part of their offensive operations.

Because of the junta’s arson attacks, 20 houses in Sintar Moe village, 56 houses in Kamma village, 1 house in Thanatpin village, and 20 houses in Zaymagyi village were burned down. On June 29, six houses in Tawpya village were also set ablaze. Additionally, the junta torched houses in Kinza Loke village of Taungtha township.

Furthermore, two civilians from Kinza Loke village were captured and killed by junta forces, while another civilian was burned alive, and one more was dismembered and executed, according to reports.
