Airstrikes Kill 8 Civilians Including 5 Children in Thibaw and Thabeikkyin Despite No Clashes

At least eight civilians, including five children, were killed when junta forces carried out airstrikes on Thibaw Township in northern Shan State and Thabeikkyin Township in Mandalay Region, despite no ongoing clashes, according to local sources.

The bombings took place on July 14 at around 2 p.m., targeting Poe Zar and Phaw Taw villages in Thabeikkyin Township. Six civilians were killed, including multiple children, and two others were injured. Five houses were destroyed by fire and two vehicles were damaged, residents said.

“In the bombing of Poe Zar and Phaw Taw villages in Thabeikkyin, five of the victims were children. Four of them were from the same family,” said one local resident.

The identified victims include Daw Hwan Ma See (45), Ma Thaung Mi Tha (14), Ma Thaung Ma Lay (11), and Maung Thaung Sar (1) — all from the same family. Two other girls, Ma He Bo Mi (14) and Ma Nao Ma Sar (12), were reportedly killed while visiting the area during the airstrike.
