Around 6 AM, military junta forces entered and attacked Shwehla village in ChaungU Township, Sagaing Region, setting fire to the village and killing one civilian, according to local residents speaking to Yangon Modern Media. The junta forces reportedly burned approximately 100 homes belonging to villagers. It was reported that one civilian was shot dead while trying to flee in a tractor as the military approached the village.
A local resident stated, “When the soldiers entered the village, they shot a civilian who was trying to escape in a tractor. The military burned down about 100 homes in the village. All the local people are fleeing to safety.”
Similarly, in Thantaw village of Palae Township, military junta forces also attacked and set fire to the village around 7 PM on the same day, killing another civilian, according to reports from the local news outlet Pale Entertainment.
It was reported that the junta forces had begun occupying Thantaw village on March 13 and started setting fire to civilian homes later that evening. Currently, local residents are fleeing to safety, and due to the military cutting off internet and phone lines, communication with the locals has been severely disrupted.
