Yangon, June 9 — The military set fire to Chaung Mee To village in Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, around 6 PM today, forcing the entire village to flee, according to local residents.
Eyewitnesses reported that the military entered the village in two Faw trucks and began burning civilian homes, resulting in significant property loss.
“Around 6 PM today, the soldiers arrived in two Faw trucks and set the village on fire. We can’t confirm yet if there were any civilian casualties. They are still in the village, and the fire is spreading,” a local resident said.
Chaung Mee To village, which has around 300 households, is now facing widespread destruction due to the rapidly spreading fire, locals reported. Many residents are watching helplessly from a distance as their homes burn down.
