Airstrike Near Thee Baw Boe Refugee Camp Kills Two Civilians, Forces Thai Residents to Flee

The Myanmar military launched an airstrike near Thee Baw Boe refugee camp in Myawaddy Township, Karen State, on the evening of July 1. The attack, which took place around 8 p.m., resulted in the deaths of two civilians and left several others injured, local sources reported. The bombing also caused panic among Thai residents living along the riverbank, forcing them to flee.

“Just a short while ago, the military aircraft dropped bombs near the boat dock on the Thai side at Mulichai village. It hit homes near the refugee camp. Thai residents living along the river have fled to Phop Phra town. Two people died instantly when a bomb hit a house in Thee Baw Boe village,” said a Thai-based migrant from the area.

According to a statement from the Cobra Column resistance group, the airstrike occurred around 7:30 p.m., targeting Thee Baw Boe village in Division 6. The attack killed two civilians and injured six others, including students. The Cobra Column condemned the military’s targeting of civilian areas, calling for accountability for all those responsible for the airstrikes.
