Nine members of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) from Wetlet GZ were captured and executed by Myanmar’s military on June 29 in Shwebo Township, confirmed by Bo Naga, the group’s leader. The victims included four women and five men, who were on their way to attend medical training when they were detained and killed.

“There were four girls and five boys. On the 29th, we sent the kids off to their medical training. When I came back, I called them but they were already captured. Their phones were confiscated, and we heard other group members being checked by the military,” Bo Naga explained.

Reports suggest the PDF members were misled and taken to Plone village, where the military has been stationed for a year. The victims were found in a pit, showing signs of brutal execution. Wetlet GZ’s leader reported hearing gunshots as the group entered the school in the village.

The deceased were identified as 14-year-old Ma Pa Pa Khaing, 15-year-old Ma Win Ei Kyaw, 24-year-old Ma Nain Nain Aung, 34-year-old Ma Thit Thit Hlaing, 17-year-old Ko Phyo Htang, 17-year-old Ko Phone Kyaw, 21-year-old Ko Thein Than Oo, 27-year-old Ko Aung Kyaw Moe, and 27-year-old Ko Phyo Ngain.
