The National Unity Government (NUG) representatives led protests in the UK, marking the 34th anniversary of the 8888 uprising, outside the British Parliament, Foreign Office, Prime Minister’s residence, and the junta’s office.
Protesters emphasized that the issues in Myanmar are global concerns, urging democratic nations, including the UK, to take action and recognize the NUG as the legitimate government. They called attention to the unlawful killings of individuals such as Ko Jin Mi, Ko Phyo Zeya Thaw, Ko Hla Myo Aung, and Ko Aung Thu Ya Zaw, denouncing these acts as “inhuman and unlawful killings.” The protesters demanded international accountability for the severe atrocities committed by the brutal Min Aung Hlaing and his junta.
Additionally, they called for the release of innocent civilians, including democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi and President U Win Myint, and raised awareness about the junta’s violent and oppressive actions as it attempts to seize power in Myanmar.
