In Myanmar’s Karen State, three civilians, including a seven-year-old girl, were killed by the Border Guard Forces (BGF) during an attack in Mikarin village, Hpa-an Township, without any ongoing conflict reported. Local residents confirmed the fatalities.
The incident occurred around 5 PM on November 17, when BGF troops entered Mikarin village and opened fire without provocation, resulting in the deaths of three civilians between Mikarin and Kophyang villages.
The deceased included a seven-year-old girl named Khain San Pe, along with two others, Saw Aung Myint and Saw Aung Kyaw Myint. One local stated, “The deceased include a seven-year-old girl, while one woman suffered severe injuries. Another child is reported to be unharmed. Out of the three killed, two were injured, and the woman has serious injuries but is not in critical condition.”
The local residents expressed that the BGF forces attacked without any questioning, creating fear and panic among some villagers. The attack is believed to be linked to the residents’ connections with the Karen National Union (KNU) and the People’s Defense Forces (PDF), as they were reportedly engaged in supply activities in the area.
