Local residents reported that the military detained and executed nine people from Sinain and Maungpin villages in Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region, all in a single day. Around 10:30 a.m. on November 30, the military entered Sinain village, set it on fire, and executed four villagers, including Ko Swe Oo, Ko Tun Min, Ko Maung Lwin, and Ko Sai Thu, who was suffering from mental illness.
In the afternoon, the military further invaded Maungpin village, set it ablaze, and executed three villagers, including Ko Kan Nyine, who also suffered from mental illness, and two unidentified individuals. Due to heavy artillery fire from the military inside the village, a woman named Ma Win was killed by a direct hit, and an elderly man also died of a heart attack from fear.
A spokesperson from the Shwebo District News Network stated, “Four villagers from Sinain were killed: Ko Swe Oo, Ko Tun Min, Ko Maung Lwin, and Ko Sai Thu, who was suffering from mental illness. In Maungpin, Ma Win died from an artillery hit, and an elderly man died of fright. Ko Kan Nyine, who was also mentally ill, along with two unidentified individuals, were executed.” Currently, military troops are patrolling between Sinain and Maungpin villages, and local residents have not been able to return to their villages due to ongoing military presence and threats.
