In Shwekyin Township, Bago Region, two civilians have been reported killed and five others injured due to artillery shelling by the military, according to information from the KNU Central Committee. The incidents occurred between 7:35 PM and 10:36 PM on June 13, when the military’s Kha-264 Battalion fired heavy artillery shells (120mm and 155mm) at Sapphhu and Nyangai villages.
On June 14 at approximately 4:30 AM, the military’s Kha-20 Battalion fired a 120mm shell into the Yayphyu Kan village, injuring 86-year-old Daw Thaung Yin. Later that morning at 6:29 AM, the Kha-264 Battalion fired a 155mm howitzer, hitting the Hmaingyon village and resulting in the death of 34-year-old Naw Thuzar Khine, along with the death of a cow. Additionally, at around 7:30 AM that day, the Kha-204 Battalion fired a 155mm shell into the Nyangai village.
Moreover, on June 14 around 10:00 AM, the military shelled the Kyaukhtan village with two 120mm artillery shells (Shwekyin strategy). At approximately 10:30 AM, the military fired two more 120mm shells into the Kasingpin village, resulting in the death of 49-year-old Ko Bo Ye, while 62-year-old Daw Khin Aye, 46-year-old Maung Ngwe Soe, 27-year-old Naw Htu Wa, and 30-year-old Ma Chery sustained injuries.
