In Sawlaw Town, located in the Chibwe District of Kachin State, rebel forces led by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) have successfully captured Sawlaw Town and all military bases in the area, according to a KIA news source speaking to the Yangon Times. This operation took place today at 7:20 AM, resulting in the capture of all military installations, including the junta’s military base and the People’s Defense Force base, along with numerous military supplies and weapons.
A KIA source reported, “The military has been completely driven out of Sawlaw. All military bases have been captured, but we have not yet obtained a complete list of the military personnel and weaponry.” This marks a significant victory for the KIA in their ongoing conflict.
Additionally, starting from 5 AM on September 29, KIA and Kachin People’s Defense Force (KPDF) joint forces launched attacks on military bases in Chibwe, including the People’s Defense Force base, the Chibwe police station, the 4-mile combined gate checkpoint, and the strategic base on the hill, successfully capturing Chibwe Town as well.
