In Buthalin, Sagaing Region, the brutal military council forces have reportedly killed six family members, including three children, according to local news sources.

On the night of October 11 at around 11 PM, military troops entered Buthalin and carried out violent raids, causing panic among the residents who fled in fear. However, a family in the Bandula neighborhood, led by U Pho Kya and Daw Ma Thin, who are known to support the military, did not escape. Consequently, the military forces entered their home and executed all six family members.

The victims of the military’s assault included 61-year-old U Pho Kya, 50-year-old Daw Ma Thin, their 26-year-old daughter Ma The The, their 14-year-old son Maung Shwe Phyo Aung, their 14-year-old adopted daughter, and their six-year-old adopted niece.

“The military was patrolling the entire town with overwhelming force, causing everyone to flee. That family remained behind because they were supporters of the military. The incident occurred around 12:30 AM. The military forces brutally executed them; the adopted niece was shot in the head while the remaining family members were also killed with gunfire,” said a local news source.

The military unit responsible for the killings is based in Monywa, specifically from the Northern Regional Military Command, which has been operating in Buthalin Township since October 4. Reports indicate that this unit has also been setting fire to villages and capturing and executing civilians.
