Military Conducts Drone and Artillery Strikes in Laydaung, Sawhti, and Taungoo, Injuring Three Including Two Children

Military forces have conducted drone and artillery strikes on villages in Laydaung and Sawhti townships, resulting in injuries to three civilians, including two children. Eight houses and one school were reported destroyed, according to KNU officials.

On October 16, at approximately 1:25 p.m., military personnel from the junta launched drone strikes from Kyaukhtaung targeting Phyuntalin village. The attacks damaged one house belonging to a villager named Saw Takaw and a motorcycle owned by Saw Maek Sitt. Further explosions occurred around 9:18 p.m. in the same region, destroying one school in the village.

On October 15, around 10:10 a.m., artillery from the military’s Kha-La-57 Battalion struck near Thangshan village, injuring a 16-year-old villager named Ko Yu Rine Soe. Later that afternoon, at approximately 1:12 p.m., another shelling by the Kha-La-264 Battalion resulted in an additional explosion in Thangshan village, damaging a home belonging to U Maung Naing, KNU reported.

Similarly, on October 15 at around 4:20 p.m., the military launched twelve rounds of 120 mm artillery into the town of Dakhok in the Taungoo District, where six rounds landed within the town, and six others fell outside, causing damage. This led to the destruction of four homes belonging to residents Afiji Jekhin and teacher Saw Saw, along with two houses owned by Maung Lin Bah and Naw Beh Bah in the neighborhood. Reports indicate that two individuals, 13-year-old Saw Ain Naing Htoo and teacher Saw Saw, sustained injuries during these attacks.
