Military Airstrikes and Shelling in Ye and Laidaw Townships Leave One Civilian Dead, Seven Injured

According to the Karen National Union (KNU), the Myanmar military conducted airstrikes using two 500-pound bombs in villages near Ye Township, Mon State, resulting in one civilian death and one injury. The airstrikes also caused significant damage to one church and two homes. On October 25, at around 11:05 a.m., a Y-12 aircraft from Mawbi Base conducted reconnaissance over Panauk Klakee village in Ye Township. At approximately 12:48 p.m., a Yak-130 fighter jet from Nay Pyi Taw dropped two 500-pound bombs, killing 30-year-old Saw The Moo and injuring 33-year-old Naw Ehtar Moo. The airstrikes caused the destruction of two civilian homes and a Christian church.
Separately, at around 11:32 a.m. on October 25, the military’s Infantry Battalion 264 launched three 122 mm artillery shells near Kawsay village in Laidaw Township, which exploded on impact. Additional shelling took place at around 11:45 a.m., with two 120 mm shells landing in Lakhon village, where a civilian, Daw Nyunt Kyi, was injured, and her home was destroyed.
On October 26, around 2:34 p.m., junta forces from Kwan Chaung fired a 120 mm shell, which exploded in Taung Pu (Kato) village, injuring U Zaw Oo. Later, at approximately 3:45 p.m., another 120 mm shell fired by junta troops hit Taw Kyun Pok village, injuring four civilians: 27-year-old Maung Ko Ko Oo, 20-year-old Naw Ehkay Htoo, 15-year-old Naw Wah Kapaw, and 50-year-old Naw Khoplaw Htoo.
On October 24, at around 9:45 a.m., Infantry Battalion 264 launched eight 122 mm shells near Kawsay village, with all shells exploding upon impact, as confirmed by the KNU.
