In Kauk Kone Village, Khin-U Township, Sagaing Region, the Myanmar military has maintained its occupation for six days, launching continuous raids on surrounding villages and intensifying attacks with drone bombings. These actions have displaced nearly 10,000 civilians, according to a spokesperson from the Khin-U Activists Network.
The military column of over 200 troops reportedly entered Kauk Kone Village on November 20, taking over the township clinic. Since then, the military has conducted systematic raids and burnings in Kauk Kone, Madaung, Lutt Taik, and Swe Hla Villages between November 20 and 22. Drone strikes have targeted fleeing civilians daily, compounding the displacement crisis.
“The soldiers have burned homes repeatedly in Kauk Kone, Lutt Taik, Madaung, and Swe Hla. They attack with drone bombs every day, making it impossible to verify the extent of the damage in these villages. The soldiers are stationed in Kauk Kone, making it unsafe for residents to return,” a representative from the Khin-U Activists Network stated.
Residents from nearby villages, including Thone Kone, Sanpya Pin Su, Myabon Tha, and others, have also fled to avoid the military’s advancing raids and drone strikes. Civilians report that homes have been destroyed in multiple villages, but the total number remains unconfirmed. The humanitarian crisis continues as displaced villagers remain unable to return to their homes due to the persistent military presence and attacks.
