Chin State Government Declares Military Airstrike on Falam Hospital a War Crime and Act of Genocide

The Chin State government has declared the November 26 airstrike by the Myanmar military on a public hospital in Lumte, Falam Township, as both a war crime and an act of genocide. The attack resulted in the deaths of seven civilians, including two healthcare workers, and injured four others.

According to reports, the airstrike occurred at 11:30 a.m., targeting Lumte Public Hospital and nearby residential areas. The assault caused widespread destruction, with the hospital and multiple homes reduced to rubble. The Chin State government strongly condemned the deliberate targeting of civilians and a public healthcare facility, labeling it a grave violation of international laws and human rights.

“This deliberate attack on innocent civilians and public infrastructure constitutes a war crime,” the Chin State government stated in its official announcement. “The military junta is continuously threatening the lives and properties of innocent people and ruthlessly committing acts of genocide.” The government emphasized its strong denunciation of these actions and reaffirmed its commitment to holding the perpetrators accountable.

The Chin State government expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and destruction caused by the attack. It further warned that individuals and organizations collaborating with the junta would face severe consequences as part of its ongoing measures to ensure justice and protect the people of Chin State.
