Four local men from Chaung Gyi Village, Oatpho Township, Bago Region, were reportedly arrested and executed by junta forces, according to local residents and members of a defense force. The victims, identified as U Kulah, U Khin Soe, U Min Lwin, and U Soe Gyi, were taken by junta soldiers on the night of December 6.

Witnesses stated that plainclothes soldiers detained the men and brought them to the military’s Security Affairs Office (Sa Ra Hpa) in Oatpho. Hours later, at around 2 a.m. on December 7, the detainees were shot and killed near a road close to Thegone Village, a source from the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Yoma, Bago Region, reported anonymously.

“The junta soldiers interrogated them, asking if they had seen PDF fighters. The men denied any sightings. However, a village informant reportedly told the military that the men had been present when PDFs withdrew from the area, leading to their arrest. They were first taken to the Sa Ra Hpa office in Oatpho and then executed near Thegone Village,” the source said.

The victims were described as farmers who were supporters of the National League for Democracy (NLD). Their brutal deaths highlight the escalating violence and targeting of civilians in the ongoing conflict.
