In Matarya Township, Mandalay Region, Myanmar’s military forces have reportedly been setting fire to villages in an ongoing operation. According to a source from Voice of Mandalay, the junta’s forces have been targeting Powa Myauk and Sin Kone villages, setting them ablaze as part of their crackdown on local communities.
Since the morning of December 8, 2024, the military forces have entered these villages, burning homes and causing significant destruction. However, the exact number of homes destroyed and the extent of damage to the villages have not been confirmed. Furthermore, it is unclear whether there have been any casualties or arrests among the villagers.
The military operation continues in the vicinity of the villages, and residents have reportedly fled their homes in fear of further violence. The situation remains dire as local populations are left displaced, with ongoing uncertainty about the full impact of the attack.
