One civilian was killed when the Myanmar military carried out an aerial bombing on two villages in Budalin Township, Sagaing Region, on the evening of April 6, according to a member of the Daung Yarzar Main Strike Column based in the area.

The military dropped two bombs from a helicopter on Kokkosu and Oukkyin villages around 6 p.m., despite the absence of any clashes at the time, the source said.

As a result of the bombing, U Aung Zaw Min, a resident of Oukkyin Village, was killed instantly. Two other civilians were also injured, but details on the extent of damage to homes could not be confirmed.

“U Aung Zaw Min was killed right after the bomb fell near Oukkyin. Two others were injured. There was no fighting. They just dropped bombs like that,” said a representative of the Daung Yarzar Main Strike Column.

The military has continued airstrikes across the country, even after it announced a ceasefire from April 2 to 22, according to local sources.
