A horrible airstrike by the Myanmar military on a village school in Ohtainkwin, Depayin Township, Sagaing Region, has reportedly badly killed around 50 people, including two teachers and numerous students, according to a local rescue worker from the area.
The attack took place at approximately 9:55 a.m. today, when a military aircraft dropped bombs directly onto the school compound. Two female teachers were confirmed dead on the spot, and many children were either badly killed or horribly injured.
“The bomb landed directly on the school. Two female teachers died instantly. Around 50 students may have been killed or injured. Some children’s bodies are still missing. There are children with eyes blown out and others with severe head injuries. We are currently transporting the wounded by vehicle. The situation is very bad,” said a local rescue volunteer.
As of now, the bodies of 11 children and two teachers have been recovered. Many other children have sustained injuries, and search and rescue operations are still ongoing, the rescue team reported.
