Media Top 4 Founder Ko Thurein Kyaw Arrested in Yangon

Ko Thurein Kyaw, founder of the Media Top 4 news agency, was arrested by military forces at his home in Aung Zeya Housing, Insein Township, Yangon, on February 3. A friend of Ko Thurein Kyaw confirmed the arrest, noting that another person living in the same house was also detained, although the exact identity and role of this individual remain unclear. Ko Thurein Kyaw, who has been involved in journalism for many years, suffered injuries on February 2 while covering a pro-military rally, where supporters of the regime attacked him. In a separate incident, author Khaing Htoo Thit, known for his contributions to magazines such as Mya Nat Maung and Mahethi, was arrested in Namkham, Shan State, on February 1. He was taken into custody along with two Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) participants. Sources confirmed that Khaing Htoo Thit is currently being held at Namkham Military Intelligence Unit 1, and friends have expressed grave concerns for his safety, as all communication with him has been cut off.
