In Tawng Ukkala, Yangon Region, a military vehicle collided with a taxi, leading to the arrest of three young individuals who were inside the taxi. Eyewitnesses reported that the military assaulted the detained youths, with claims that they were beaten and had their faces stepped on with military boots. At around 4:30 PM near the Minthar 31 vehicle gate, three young people were apprehended as they attempted to escape from the taxi during the incident. An eyewitness stated, “Around 4:30 PM, three youths were arrested at the Minthar 31 vehicle stop. As they tried to flee from the taxi, the military vehicle struck the taxi, and they were captured. Two were young women and one was a young man.” The Yangon Defense Force also confirmed that three youths were arrested at the site where the military vehicle collided with the taxi, with six soldiers participating in the detention. One witness elaborated, “A military dog was seen stepping on the head of one youth who was apprehended, with military boots.” Reports indicate that during an anti-military protest held by young activists in Yangon on April 20, the military violently disrupted the demonstration by ramming a vehicle into the protesters, resulting in several arrests. Protesters were chanting, “The unjust are becoming more cruel; may the cruel be cut down,” when the military launched the attack, as informed by those involved in the protest.
