In Chin State’s Kanpetlet Township, the military arrested and executed a local resident named Ko Keetam on the morning of June 1, but has refused to return his body to his family, according to local sources. Ko Keetam was reportedly detained while walking through the town, after soldiers discovered photos of CDF comrades on his phone. A resident said, “He was arrested near the township administrator’s office on June 1 because the military found CDF photos on his phone. The soldiers took him inside the compound, where they executed him, but they haven’t returned his body to the family.”
Family members tried to follow up after his arrest, and eventually managed to contact a military officer. However, the officer did not provide any details about the reason for the arrest, and instead mocked the family, saying that Ko Keetam had already been executed and buried.
