Military Executes Seven Civilians in Kani Township, Pyu Saw Htee Group Kills Three PDF Officers in Yesagyo

Yangon, June 8 — In Kani Township, Sagaing Region, the military invaded 45 villages along the banks of the Chindwin River from May 10 to June 5, executing seven civilians, including a 17-year-old youth, according to the Kani Township Spring Revolution Strike Force.

On May 18, the military arrested and executed U Zaw Lin, a villager from Khin Taung, leaving his body near the Pyu Saw Htee camp at Yelay Kyun, with stab wounds in the chest and abdomen, bruises on his face, back, legs, and head, and his hands tied behind his back, witnesses reported.

On May 25, the military arrested U Aung Than Maw, a villager from Upper Khin, and later found his body with his fingers severed, throat tied with a rope, and hands behind his back, near the village, local sources said.

On May 31, four villagers from Tazal Chaung—U Khin Maung Chan, U Kyaw Hlaing Win, U Zaw, and 17-year-old Ko Phyo—were arrested and executed by the military around 1 PM. Their decomposing bodies were discovered on June 5 and 6 near Bura Kone Chaung, according to local sources.

On June 5, the military arrested U Chit Lwin, a villager from Daung Chaung, at 3 PM near Nat Taung village and burned his body inside a hut near the Thanzauk plantation, reports said.

During the 27-day period in Kani Township, the military also torched 1,053 civilian homes across 18 villages, according to the Kani Township Spring Revolution Strike Force.

In a similar incident, the military-backed Pyu Saw Htee group captured and executed three PDF officers near Sin Gyok Kyut village in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, around 11:25 PM on May 28, and set their bodies on fire, according to the Taung Lat People’s Defense Force (TLF).

The three fallen PDF officers—Thun, Wunna (Wunna Soe), and Byak Kyaw (Kaung Myat Soe)—were captured by Pyu Saw Htee forces near Zarat Road in Sin Gyok Kyut village and executed before their bodies were burned, reports said.

TLF issued a statement mourning the loss of their comrades and vowing to continue fighting until the military regime is completely eradicated.
