Military Burns Five Civilians and Seven Houses in Nyaukle Village, Gangaw

On June 3, 2024, the military raided Nyaukle Village in Gangaw Township, Magway Region, and reportedly captured five civilians from the village, tying them up with ropes and setting them on fire, according to local sources and the local defense force PDF – GANGAW – South Brigade.

The military advanced from Rehmyat Nyi Village towards Gangaw, invading Nyaukle and Kaung Tonn villages. It is reported that five civilians from Nyaukle were tied up in one house and burned to death.

During this operation, the military also set fire to two civilian houses in Nyaukle and five in Kaung Tonn, and looted civilian properties within the village. They reportedly transported the looted goods on military trucks and destroyed items they could not take, as stated by the PDF – GANGAW – South Brigade.
