Military Raids Min Kon Village, Steals Donation Money from Monastery and Loots Civilian Property

The military raided Min Kon village in Inn Taw Township, Sagaing Region, on June 24, looting donation boxes at the local monastery and stealing valuables from civilian homes, according to local sources. Min Kon village has over 160 houses, most of which were ransacked by the soldiers. The military stole gold items including a one-baht gold necklace, a pair of gold hairpins, other gold jewelry, and money. They also smashed open the donation boxes in the monastery and took the cash inside, locals reported. In addition to looting, the military shelled the village with heavy weapons, damaging seven houses. Soldiers also destroyed any items they could not carry away from other homes in the village.
