Military Assaults Sayar Village, Resulting in Death of One Woman; Myitsone Village Set on Fire; 15 Citizens Arrested from Khin U and Karshi

In the Sagaing Region, the military carried out an assault on Sayar village around 9 AM, resulting in the death of 21-year-old Ma Myat Than Aung, as reported by the People’s Defense and Security Force (CDSOM). Ma Myat Than Aung was struck by heavy weaponry while cleaning tables inside a tea shop, leading to her immediate death. A 7-year-old child was also reported injured in the incident.

At approximately 11:30 AM, the military attacked Myitsone village using heavy and small arms, and around noon, they entered the village, setting fires and causing destruction, although the extent of the damage has not yet been confirmed.

On July 13, it was reported that three citizens died and four were injured when military forces attacked a refugee camp in Shwepan village where displaced individuals were sheltering.

Since July 13, military operations in the Myoing district have resulted in the deaths of four civilians and injuries to five others, according to CDSOM reports.

In a similar incident, on the morning of July 17, the military entered Karshi village in the Khin U township, arresting 15 local citizens as hostages, according to reports from local residents.

Following their entry into the village, the military reportedly gathered villagers in a monastery and then raided civilian homes, destroying a civilian-owned vehicle in the process.

A local resident stated, “This morning, the military entered our village and forced everyone into the monastery. They also arrested 15 villagers as hostages and destroyed a civilian truck, while they raided all the homes in the village.”
