A man named U Soe Myint from Bommau Ward in Dawei, Tanintharyi Region, was arrested by the military junta around 10 p.m. on August 4 and was killed within 24 hours. His body was discarded by the roadside, according to local reports from the Dawei Information Center. Witnesses found his body near the village of Sapyachaung early on August 5, bound at the face with cloth and bearing gunshot wounds. His family was later notified to collect the body from Dawei Hospital. U Soe Myint, originally from Gonnyin Seik village in Thayetchaung Township, was a civilian residing with his family in Dawei at the time of his death, locals confirmed. Meanwhile, in Kalay, Sagaing Region, clashes between the junta forces and resistance groups, including the CDF-Kalay Kabaw Gangaw, have been ongoing since August 3. The junta forces reportedly shot and killed one civilian from Thayarkone village and wounded two others. The military has also detained approximately 50 civilians and set fire to civilian homes using artillery, destroying five houses, the local resistance group reported.
