In Hpakant Township, Kachin State, at around 11 PM tonight, the military launched airstrikes and heavy artillery fire on Sezang village, resulting in several houses catching fire, according to local residents. Witnesses reported, “They are attacking Sezang with aircraft. They are firing with heavy weapons. We can see flames rising from the direction of Shwepyit village towards Sezang. There are big flames, and the fire is a result of the airstrikes. It’s starting to quiet down now.”
Throughout the day, the military continued its aerial bombardment near Sezang village, and the air assaults were ongoing up until after 11 PM. Additionally, at around 10:40 PM on August 9, the military entered and set fire to houses in Thitpu Laekone village in Pakokku Township, which has over 140 households. It was reported that the military was indiscriminately burning down homes without any fighting taking place, forcing the residents to flee for safety.
