Reports have emerged that the military junta conducted airstrikes using jet fighters on civilian areas in Kayah and Kachin States today, August 9. In Kayah State, between 10:30 AM and 11 AM, the military launched three airstrikes on Doparpar village in Loikaw Township, resulting in damage to a clinic and one residential house. A civilian was killed, and two others were injured, according to a statement from the Kachin National Defense Force (KNDF).
Furthermore, around 11 AM, the junta forces stationed in Loikaw city launched additional artillery attacks from their base, targeting civilian-populated areas without any fighting taking place, as reported by KNDF.
In Kachin State, Hpakant Township’s Sezang village also faced three airstrikes today, leading to the destruction of one home, forcing many civilians to flee to safety.
Additionally, it was reported that the junta’s police station in the center of Sezang village was under attack by a joint force of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the People’s Defense Force (PDF) today. On August 8, the KIA and PDF jointly attacked and captured two military camps belonging to the armed group Shan Nationalities Army (SNA), seizing a significant amount of weaponry, according to sources in Kachin.
