Military Junta Attacks Sin Li Village in Namtu Township, Loots Property, and Poison Water Supply

In Sin Li village, Namtu Township, Shan State, local residents reported that military junta forces raided the village, looting gold and silver, destroying homes and vehicles, and poisoning the village water supply. It was stated that the military had also killed livestock during the assault.

On September 29, military forces entered Sin Li village in northern Shan State and set fire to vehicles and motorcycles within the village. They reportedly broke into homes, stealing around 150,000 kyats and gold while also killing livestock. Additionally, the water supply used by the villagers was poisoned. Residents reported that the military withdrew on October 6.

A local resident expressed, ‘They poisoned the water supply in Sin Li village, the water that people in the village drink. Due to the poisoning, we can no longer drink from it. The fighting began on September 29. For about two days after the fighting started, it was quiet, but now the whole village is fleeing. We are still unable to return to the village. The fighting occurs almost every day.’

It has been reported that PDF and KIA allied forces attacked the military junta near Sin Li village, with casualties on the junta’s side. Local residents indicated that the villagers have not yet returned to their homes.
