Villagers along the banks of the Chindwin River organized a protest march today, January 5, carrying a portrait of Aung San Suu Kyi and a banner reading “Beloved Steel Rose Mother of the People.” The demonstration took place on Pahtodawgyi Day (Mother’s Day) to honor the imprisoned leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Protesters marched peacefully, showing their support for Suu Kyi and expressing their continued resistance to the military junta.
