In Gangaw Township, Magway Region, junta forces from Infantry Battalion 50 fired heavy artillery into Aung Myin (Shauk Pin) village, resulting in the deaths of three civilians and injuring three others, including two children aged 8 months and 4 years, according to a source from Yoe Alin Tan. The attack occurred at approximately 10 a.m. on May 26, when two 122mm howitzer shells struck two homes in the village, killing a 60-year-old man, a 30-year-old woman, and a 23-year-old woman.
In addition, a 60-year-old grandmother, a 4-year-old girl, and an 8-month-old boy were injured, the report said. “There was no battle; they just fired randomly. Both houses were completely destroyed. One woman was so badly hit that her body couldn’t even be recovered. The first shell killed the man, and the second one hit two women. The 4-year-old girl is expected to lose her arm. Medical teams nearby have assisted them,” a source from Yoe Alin Tan said.
The junta frequently shells nearby villages without any military engagement, and locals are being urged to take precautions, according to the source.
