In Tanintharyi Region, Yephyu Township, an attack by the military council’s naval forces resulted in the deaths of three family members, including an eight-month-old infant, and left another child severely injured, as reported by local residents to Yangon Times.
On June 7, around 10 a.m., naval vessels of the military council fired heavy artillery at the newly established Rabuu village, causing explosions in civilian homes. It was reported that two adults and the eight-month-old infant died in one of the destroyed houses.
A local resident recounted, “The naval forces shot at us. The father, who was head of the family, died on the spot, while the mother died on the way to get medical help. The infant also died while receiving treatment. Only one child, aged 9 or 10, remains from the family, and he is very frightened.”
It is believed that the military council intentionally targeted civilian areas where there were no ongoing conflicts. Reports indicate that from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 7, the military council’s naval forces launched six rounds of heavy artillery at Rabuu village.
