The embassies of Britain, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Italy, the European Union, and Germany, based in Yangon, have changed their Facebook profile pictures to floral images in solidarity with the flower protest for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s birthday. On this day, marking Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s 79th birthday, the British embassy replaced its profile picture with a background floral artwork featuring her, calling for the immediate release of political prisoners, including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

“Today marks Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s 79th birthday. We condemn her detention and continue to call for the release of all those unjustly imprisoned alongside her. The charges against Daw Aung San Suu Kyi are clearly politically motivated,” stated the British embassy in Yangon.

Similarly, the European Union embassy in Yangon also changed its Facebook profile picture to a floral design, marking Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s 79th birthday.

Additionally, the German embassy in Yangon has also participated in the flower protest by changing its Facebook profile picture to an image of a woman adorned with flowers on her head.

Embassies from Denmark, Finland, Italy, and Norway in Yangon have similarly participated by changing their Facebook profile pictures to floral images.
