Despite Ceasefire by the Northern Alliance, Junta Continues Attacks in Lashio and Kachin, Resulting in Civilian Casualties

In northern Shan State, the Northern Alliance forces declared a four-day ceasefire; however, reports from the TNLA and local residents indicate that the junta has continued its attacks in Lashio and Kachin, resulting in civilian casualties.

Today, in the Kachin region, troops from the junta’s Khamar-501 and 502 battalions launched an offensive, leading to clashes with the TNLA near their camp. Additionally, fighting was reported near Nat Taung in the Kachin region.

Similarly, at around 12:33 PM today in Naung Pain village, Kachin region, battles broke out between the attacking junta forces and the TNLA. Furthermore, there were reports of the junta forces firing artillery six times at Naung Aung and Thet Khaw villages in the Naung Cho region, where no battles were occurring.

In addition, due to continued air and artillery strikes by the junta in Kachin today, one civilian was killed and three others were injured. This afternoon at around 3 PM in Kachin city, the junta fired approximately 30 rounds of artillery, resulting in the death of an elderly woman residing in Nan Hu Mountain. In Ward 9 of Kachin, three civilians were reported injured due to artillery shelling by the junta.

Moreover, at around 3 PM today, the junta troops reportedly carried out an airstrike using a jet fighter at the intersection in Thi Ni city.

Additionally, although the MNDAA declared a four-day ceasefire in northern Shan State, reports indicate that the junta forces have conducted artillery attacks in Lashio, particularly with explosions occurring at Meh Haan Viewpoint and the inspection gate.
