Airstrikes by Military Result in Deaths and Injuries in Nawthokyi and Nganzun

In Mandalay Region, airstrikes by the military in Nawthokyi and Nganzun resulted in the deaths of two civilians, with five others injured, including three children. Local news sources reported that these attacks occurred without any prior fighting.

On August 27, around 1:30 PM, the military launched airstrikes in the Letwe+Nyi village of Nawthokyi, injuring two children aged five and seven and one woman. Additionally, a nearby monastery was reported to have collapsed.

Similarly, airstrikes in Nganzun township targeted Nganzon village, leading to the deaths of two civilians, including an 11-year-old child, and injuries to two others.

Around 1:10 PM on August 27, without any prior battles, the military bombed Nganzon village, resulting in the deaths of a 70-year-old man and a woman, while two women aged 11 and 25 were injured. It was also reported that one school building and three homes were damaged.

According to local sources, “The bombing in Letwe Nyi destroyed the monastery. One child was killed instantly, while another had both legs amputated. A woman was also seriously injured. In Nganzon, one school building and three homes were destroyed. The deceased included a grandfather and grandmother, and the injured included two girls, one of whom is just 11 years old.”
