According to military sources from the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), the military base Point-1489 located in Sawlaw Township, Kachin State was attacked and captured by KIA forces.
On August 30, during the afternoon, the KIA’s Battalion 7 launched a decisive attack on the Point-1489 base, which was jointly defended by around 80 personnel from the armed forces and local militias, situated between Sawlaw town and the Satkyo road.
A KIA military source stated, “The attack on Point-1489 between Sawlaw and Satkyo took place in the afternoon of the 30th, and we have not yet confirmed the details regarding casualties among the military and the acquisition of weapons and ammunition.”
