Airstrike on Namkham Town Leaves 11 Civilians Dead, Including a Family, with 12 Others Injured

In northern Shan State, Namkham town, controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), was hit by an airstrike from the military junta, resulting in the deaths of 11 civilians, including children and a pregnant woman, with 12 others injured, according to the Ta’ang Women’s Organization (TWO).

The airstrike occurred in the early hours of the morning on September 6, around 1:30 AM, targeting the area west of Namkham’s night market and the Kyaw Phyu Hall. Two bombs were dropped, leading to the death of an entire family, including a 4-year-old child, a pregnant woman, and her husband. A total of 11 people were killed, while 12 others were injured. Some of the victims succumbed to their injuries after being transported to the hospital.

“The family, including a 4-year-old child, a pregnant woman, and her husband, were all killed. In total, 11 people died, and 12 were injured. Some passed away after arriving at the hospital due to severe injuries. The first bomb landed near an electronics shop at the night market, while the second struck near the Kyaw Phyu Hall,” a spokesperson from the TWO stated.

The injured civilians were transported to the public hospital by a local humanitarian organization. Several homes, electronics shops, and buildings were damaged, and some caught fire as a result of the bombing.
